Full day out today at Universal Studios. Might only be a 10 minute walk to the park entrance from the hotel but there’s also the regular shuttle service so hopped on that – mustn’t overdo things too much or walk too far!!!
Headed first up to the ‘Studio Tour’ service where our little ‘train’ moved us around the actual working areas of Universal Studios. The place is huge!! In amongst it all there’s bungalows, cafe’s, whole wild west streets, canyons of water gushing down the mountain (on cue of course!!), a ride through the dinosaur 3d tunnel, we had 3D glasses on to make it seem real – that bloody great spider made me jump out of my skin!! I hate the things – it might have only been 3D and ‘seemingly’ close to me but how come it came right up to my spot on the tram!!
That ride took nearly an hour then it was down about 4 sets of really steep escalators to the ‘Lower Lot’. Did the transformers ride, Jurassic Park water ride and had some lunch in that area. The transformers ride was absolutely amazing. All 3D and special effects with the car you were in doing all the bumps and rolling bits accordingly. We fell off skyscrapers and were saved by the ‘good’ transformers, had a hot ray gun blasted at us by the bad guys, and even felt it’s heat, smashed glass thrown at us etc all in 3D – amazing. And every little or big fall or sudden stop we felt. ALl good fun.
The Jurassic Parkwater ride was fairly sedate after that but also good fun even so.
Back up our escalators again, on to the Special effects show – okay, then over to the ‘WaterWorld’ show. Lots of photos to be had there and quite a spectacular show based on Kevin Costner’s Waterworld movie. Lots of water thrown around onto the audience – lots of seats marked ‘Wet Zone’ so if you sat there you were very likely to get wet! We didn’t!
Back to the hotel again about 6pm by then, dinner and quiet night in. Check out the photos!
