Brenda and Kemm's travels

The Intrepid Museum

2014, Panama Canal Cruise

Another walk to the foreshore, the USS Intrepid Museum is a World War 2 Aircraft Carrier and now permently on display on the Hudson River in New York. It, like many other aircraft carriers I guess, is a huge vessel and as part of the display, holds numerous aircraft on it’s hangar deck including the dark and sleek blackbird high altitude reconnaisance aircraft, and a bunch of high level military aircarft – none of which I have any idea of!! Kemm enjoyed it of course.

Wandered around the upper flight deck and then through the hangar deck where “lots of stuff’ was on display. Well explained by me (NOT) but this was Kemm’s outing!

The Space Shuttle Endeavour was also on display as part of the Hanger craft on display – that is one huge aircraft!!! I had purchased a flight simulator ticket as part of my entry but on watching what the simulator actually di – I renegged on that one! Especially when the sign said it was not advisable for those who get motion sickness!

Walking around New York is making us lose weight – I’m certain of it!!!!! We’ve done lots of it for sure and walking approximately 5kms a day in my estimation! Well maybe not quite so much but it can only be good for us! Kemm has had a couple of episodes of ‘I’m stuffed’ but only because he hasn’t eaten enough food to keep up with the energy required. A bit of food and drink and we’re off again!

Our hotel is dead centre of the district called ‘Hell’s Kitchen” – there’s cafes and little boutique restaurants all around us so plenty of spots to eat. Tring to avoid all the stodgy foods and quautities supplied is okay for us but geez, there’s a LOT of oveweight people here – an overweight by a long shot! Lots of them are the big African Americans – there’s loads of them and many well overweight!
