Brenda and Kemm's travels

Rutherglen

2009, Great Ocean Road trip

Sleep in this morning as we don’t have the big day ahead as we have in the last 2 days.

First stop breakfast – another delightful meal after our dinner here also last night.

Then we head out to the vineyards well known in this region, and especially for their muscat and tokay grape varieties. Muscat is a favourite for both Kemm and I and Tokay is very much afavourite of mine and OUR STOCKS ARE DEPLETED! That’s why we’re here – to restock. Of course the re-stocking needs some tasting first, even if it is 10am in the morning!!!

We had plans to purchase 1 of each Tokay and Muscat in each of the 4 vineyards anyway and that was exactly what we did. Just added to the kitchen sink material now spread throughout the car!! Ho hum 10 days or so to go and the car is a mess already????  mmmm……

The vineyards we visit are all in the Rutherglen area of course and once done we headed off to Yarrawonga, found the golf club there and it’s on-site accommodation where we have set ourselves in nicely for a couple of nights.

Ellie and Brian, friends of ours had plans to be here also but family circumstances have upset their planning and they have had to head off to Melbourne ASAP and miss out on their planned week of golf in this region.

Kemm and I head into the clubhouse for lunch – not your average clubhouse mind you – there’s a bowls club, bistro, gym, golf club, pokie facility, TAB etc – you name it – this place is huge! A visit to the pokies room of course is made by us – JUST to keep the local economy going though mind you!

We had a quiet afternoon anyway doing very little. I managed to find the guest laundry and get 3 days of washing through the system then headed off for a drive to take some photos of Lake Mulwala
